What is Counseling?
Counseling is a collaborative process in which the parties involved share information to provide the opportunity for self-exploration, self-discovery, change and growth in an emotionally and psychologically safe environment.
Who is Eligible?
Members of New Hope Baptist Church are eligible to receive counseling services for free. In some instances, family members who are not members of New Hope Baptist Church may be included in the counseling process with eligible members. As a service to the Grand Rapids community, counseling services may be made available to non-members of New Hope Baptist Church, dependent upon resources and availability.
Is it Confidential?
Confidentiality is essential to the success of the counseling process. In accordance with professional, ethical and legal guidelines, information you discuss with Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHPs) will be kept confidential. There are limited exceptions to this confidentiality and these will be discussed with you in detail prior to you engaging in the counseling process.
Who are the Counselors?
The Journey Counseling Center is comprised of Qualified Mental Health Professionals [(QMPHs) from the fields of counseling, psychology, and social work. These individuals are licensed by the State of Michigan to provide mental wellness counseling. Some, but not all, of the QMHPs are members of New Hope Baptist Church.
